The Arrival is a migrant story told as a series of wordless images that might seem to come from a long forgotten time. The images used in this picture book tell the story of a man whom goes in search of a safe place for himself and his family.
This half term, Year 6 have been learning about immigration and the plight of refugees. As part of this theme, we have looked at the reasons that people migrate from one country to another and have also thought about how hard this must be for people whom have to leave their home country due to persecution and war. During our launch day, the children were given 2 minutes to choose what they would take if they had to leave their home in emergency. This really made them think about which of their possessions are essential to their survival and how hard it would be to suddenly leave their life behind.
Circulatory System - Science
Whilst learning about the circulatory system, the children had the opportunity to dissect lamb hearts. They worked extremely carefully as they cut off any fat around the heart, removed a capillary, part of the artery, part of the vein, a valve and an atrium or ventricle. As you can see from the photos, the children had a fantastic time.
