Penalty Shoot out!
Today - September 26th - was our first sporting challenge of the year - the return of the penalty shoot out. All the children from Nursery up to Year 6 took part to find two penalty champions from each class.
Here are pictures of the Year 3 winners Anja and Hugo. They had to get their penalties past the sporty Mr Martin - a very hard task! A massive well done to those two and the other winners!
In the last week of the first half term, the school football team were one of eight teams competing in a tournament at Gledhow Primary. After a little bit of a slow start the lads played better and better and were unbeaten in their group of 4. This meant they reached the final against Holy Rosary. As you can imagine, everyone was excited, but despite a valiant effort they lost one-nil in a hard fought match. Osahon, our new captain, showed his usual strong form, but it was Jak who we thought was our player of the tournament. Well done to the whole team. You did the school proud- a great afternoon!
The Road to Wembley!
Wow! The football team played even better at this tournament organised by Leeds United, even eclipsing our strong performance at the same tournament last year. In our group of 5 we won every single match including one by 7-0! The lads were on fire with great skill and determination on display. What was really nice was the positive comments about us from those in charge of other schools there. In the semi- final we won 3-0 with another confident, determined performance. There was no need for a final because the top two teams were both winners of the chance to play in the next tournament - this time at Leeds United's training ground at Thorpe Arch In January! What an opportunity for them! A massive well done to them all - they all more than played their part in a memorable afternoon. The squad was Osahon, Yuel, Bradley, Vian, Jak, Yafet and Daniel all pictured below. The second picture is of Osahon with the other captains.
Come and try table tennis!
Some of our Year 6 children, Layton, Courtney, Hannah and Esrom, got the opportunity to go to Allerton Primary for a 'Come and try' table tennis tournament. None of them had played much before, but really got stuck in making big progress in a short time. The main thing was they all thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to play table tennis again.
Speed Bounce Challenge:
Our second sporting challenge of the academic year was the 'Speed Bounce Challenge!' Every child from Nursery through to Reception took part as we looked for a champion boy and champion boy from each class. Go fitter! Go faster! Go All Saints!
